NetErgonomics® basic philosophy of care for all of its integrated products and services is to provide preventive intervention in a timely fashion and at a level commensurate with need. This follows the three-tiered model for injury and illness prevention discussed below:
Primary Prevention aims at evaluating the total work environment, identifying the physical requirements of the job or task, and matching the physical capacity of the worker to their work process in order to avoid an injury or illness before it occurs. This is accomplished through applied ergonomics principles based on engineering design processes, as well as health education and health enhancement activities.
Secondary Prevention focuses on the modifications of known or pre-existing risk behaviors or medical conditions. These include poor work postures, previous injury, smoking, stress, and malnutrition, among other things. It also focuses on the design or re-design of workstations to eliminate identified risk factors, or design or provision of tools to accommodate or enhance job performance and provide freedom from reoccurrence of injury or illness.
Tertiary Prevention involves the early medical management of musculoskeletal injuries to provide employees with prompt and appropriate treatment, as well as a quick but safe return to work activities.
